Nutrition

The Nutrition section is divided into two basic areas:

Foods - we look at some of the common foods and their nutritional properties. Of course we cannot cover everything so we have begun with a few interesting foods and their properties. Some foods are listed here for their toxicity while others have surprising healing properties.

Health - this section is full of summaries of medical and biological reseach pertaining to diabetes, cardiovascular disease and other chronic ailments. You will find articles packed full of advice on treatments and preventative holistic medicine for a range of ailments. Find out the symptoms but even more importantly, find out the likely causes and the results of trials of various treatments. Follow the refernces for additional information from the source - not heresay and gossip.

We have tried to compile this section without prejudice to the pharmacological profession or alternative medical fraternity. We have tried to provide a balanced viewpoint and backed this up with investigtions and have listed our sources for you to follow up, so you may form your own opinions.

Health - The problems with today's eating.
I was at a seminar and we broke for coffee and biscuits. As I reached for a biscuit, I chose an Arnotts Shortbread finger biscuit and one of the guests said "Best choice - I used to work for Arnotts as a Quality Control officer. The only ingredients you would recognise are the ones that are used in their Scotch Finger Shortbread."

Food today is too processed, too old by the time we get it, grown hydroponically (lacking climatic stressors and many trace elements) or treated with antibiotics and insecticides for increased production.

And if that's not enough, we often further doctor food for preservation and package it in materials known to emit carcinogens. Food and Drug monitoring organisations are powerless to prevent this because food retailers claim that the food is packaged only for a short time and the contamination is minimal. Personally I prefer no contamination at all!

Environmental effects on our nutrition.
Organo-chlorides and phosphates from industrial waste, pollution and insecticides are locked in our food chain. Radioactive materials (eg. Chernobyl's effect in Europe), pollutants (Selenium in San Joaquin Valley, California's food basin and surrounding irrigated farming areas) are all inhibiting factors that have permeated into our environment and the food chain..

We prepare our foods differently to the way we used to in the wild and as a result we have created a diet defficient in some vitamins, like B17 and many bioflavinoids.

Todays lifestyle, spending most of our time indoors, reduces our vitamin D, a vitamin we synthesis in our skin on exposure to sunlight. As a population an extimated 93% of us are Vitamin D defficient. One of the symptoms of vitamin D defficiency is depression. This is possibly a contributing factor to the rise in depression amongst adults in an age where the standard of living is at an all time high.

Cellular Nutrition
The first page in this section, Processing Glucose, should be compulsory reading for anyone trying to lose weight, suffering from a heart or arterial condition or diabetes. While you cut that teaspoon of sugar in your tea or coffee out, you are told to eat other foods that contain dozens of teaspoons of sugar!

See how the cell membrane itself needs the very things we are being told not to eat and how receptor molecules link to and carry nutrients into the cell.

Find out how this relates to Diabetes, cholesterol, RDA's (Recommended Daily Allowance's) of nutrients.

Diabetes - Type 1 and 2, medical treatments, treat symptoms only to prevent sugar damage to organs and fail to treat the condition at the causal level.
